Ah, the disappointment. These days lazy Teatime only updates The Fort every new moon and now the newest installment is not even covering the game the site is dedicated to? Boo, I say.
Truth to be told I don’t have any pressing issues prompting me to write about. The game is what it is. The people playing it are what they are [1]. Same old same old, so to say. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing. There are people in the community who are wishing the game would have been “same old” basically from day one (cue: “Vanilla TF2”).
I guess I’m a little burned out atm. Currently TF2 does not hold the fascination it uses to. Also the participation in ETF2L’s Highlander Challenge was an interesting [2] yet exhausting experience. The latter might be a curious notion since it didn’t take up too much of my time. I guess I fell out of love with the whole thing at some point along the way, and consequently it turned into a drag.
For the record: Our team was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. But at least we lost in a fair match against a worthy opponent.
My current lack of playing TF2 is also caused by me having delved into „Fallout 3“ in the moment. I don’t quite remember why I never took a closer look at it when it came out. But all the promotion for “Fallout New Vegas“ brought it back to my attention and since I was in the mood for a game like that I was willing to give it a try. Usually I’m not much interested in RPGs (and really have no interest whatsoever in those medieval/fantasy scenarios which so many people seem to love), but the many incredients in “Fallout 3” of a FPS makes it very much suitable for me. In many aspects it’s reminding me of “STALKER“, which I’ve loved intensely (for some reason beyond comprehension I played through the original “Stalker“ five times pretty much in a row, though on various difficulty levels and modded versions), though I have to say that the creepy and desolate atmosphere of “STALKER” was more effective. On the other hand “Fallout 3” offers more variety (especially with the add-ons) in settings and missions.
So the last few weeks I’ve spend countless hours playing the game [3]. Maybe once I’ve finished that I might be ready to do some more TF2 again. Then again I’ve just ordered “New Vegas”, so who knows ...
Also I’m quite stressed out at work. For those who don’t know, I’m working in a store. And since it’s Christmas season it’s tons of work to be done. And people are even more rubbish and demanding than usual, which only make things worse. No day without some major facepalm-incidents. Sometimes the idea of murder holds some sweet appeal.
So, this is where I am. And where I’m not.
