Maybe no news to many readers, but I thought I’d comment it anyway.
The ProFortress League (PFL) has announced that Bunnyhopping will be banned in future matches. With that decision finally a TFC league took a stand on BH, which will hopefully serve as an example not only to other leagues but will also set a signal to the community that exploits of that kind are not in the spirit of the game.
To quote PainKiller-[CE], the PFL Commissioner, explaining the reasons behind that decision:
I also hope that Valve is paying attention, because up until now they’ve treated this issue far too lightly in my opinion, and it’s starting to get to be a real problem. I hope that we can be successful with this ban, and set an example for the rest of the leagues, and for the clans themselves. We should be able to see for ourselves when something breaks the game we’ve all been playing for so long, and not have to wait for Valve to fix it, but instead fix it ourselves and unify our voices in asking them to finish what we’ve started.
I’m sure that this decision will be debated very controversially inside and outside PFL, and I’m sure PFL will take heavy fire for pulling that off. The more I congratulate the PFL commission as well as all clans in PFL supporting that decision for making that step, as well as I hope that all clans in PFL will help to show that competitive gameplay on the highest level doesn’t require the use of exploits!
And I also hope that this will cause the community to reevaluate its opinion on BH. Don’t let yourself be fooled by skill. An exploit is an exploit, regardless of the skill it requires. And last but not least I hope Valve gets up its ass to address that problem in an appropriate way.
