Snipers - the communicating class

Disclaimer: Blatant generalization ahead ...

Is it just me or are snipers really always talking? In far too many games I see them bragging about their l33t skills, or teasing the other snipers, sometimes they even congratulate each other (though I might have dreamed that one) and usually they comment each time they got killed (and if they were killed by another sniper this comment is usually "lag!").

So am I right to assume that during all that serious shooting snipers obviously still have a lot of time to type messages. Repeatedly, if necessary. Throughout the game.

But why can these snipers not only ONCE send useful messages to their team? It’s obviously not that they lack the time or opportunity, and in many maps they are in the best position to spot incoming enemies and the route they take.

So snipers, either become teamplayers or piss off to play sniper-maps exclusively. But the way it is you are more often an embarrassment to the game than not.
