TF2 on Mac, and stuff

WTF, I’ve always thought Mac users were aesthetes; artists and such. Graphic designers, musicians, higher management proving their sense of style. And these fine sophisticated folks should really be willing to get together with us unshaven, dirty and tasteless rubble of PC users on the same game? Hard to believe.

But hey, the more the merrier. The early Mac players will even get their version of a Grizzled Veteran: iPod Earbuds . And immediately parts of the community is already in an uproar, consumed by envy. Not only do Mac Users have style and an affinity to bright colors (just look on the TF2 pages for them, in stylish white/light-grey, elegant design, nice font ... much more upper class ), but they will get something we PC users won’t have.

IMPOSSIBLE. THIS CAN’T BE TOLERATED.
(Hmm, I’d suggest anybody who can’t deal with the indignity of this insult should boycott TF2! Indefinitely! The more the merrier only carries so far. Sometimes less is more!)

Okay, lot’s of new blood on the servers this (free-)weekend. Some we will recognize. Some we will not. (Hey, some might even carry medals suggesting otherwise).

I will try to enjoy the last few days I can play Engy without being the 18th of that class on a 16 player team. Which will be the case soon enough. [1]
The Mac Update very clearly hints on the engy update following suit. If this goes anything like the last updates I expect a first introduction tonight, then letting us roasting in our brew of speculations over the weekend, to follow with daily update introductions with a release either on Thursday or Friday.
And on that matter:

DEAR VALVE,

in the past you have shown the reliable potential to release a class update with bugs, occasionally serious ones. If history has taught us anything then it is that the probability for such a serious bug is 2^11.4563 times higher on a Friday release, when you won’t be able/bothered/sober enough to fix the problem before the following Monday.
So please, dear Valve, release the update on Thursday and STAND BLOODY BY ON FRIDAY TO FIX ANYTHING YOU BROKE!

The Mac update already gave us a first glimpse of what will probably be the new 2nd weapon alternative for the engy: A new shotgun.

Speculations I’ve heard so far suggest the bulky thing mounted on the shotgun’s body could be a laser beacon. Somebody suggested to prioritize targets for the sentry. I was thinking it might be able to point the sentry towards a target outside its detection range (e.g. a soldier or demo) and make it fire on that target.
Whatever it will be, it would explain the new death icon introduced a couple of weeks ago (Sentry kill by Laser).

We will see. If I’m right we will be fed more information this night.
