The Fort looks back on a long history, reaching back to the days of the original Team Fortress (a more detailed History can be found here).
The Fort isn’t another run-of-the-mill game site.
It doesn’t focus on posting the latest news. It doesn’t feature advanced gaming techniques or strategies, so you will not find any tips or tricks here to become a more skilled Demo or Spy (If I’ll address such things it will be from a different angle). It doesn’t concern itself with the clan scene (Most comments will be done with pub games in mind). Nor does this site try to gather a community for discussing their l33tness and to rant and rave. (Though rest assured that I will appreciate every thoughtful comment and all constructive criticism!).
Instead the Fort tries to comment on the game in its different aspects and on the people playing it. It tries to promote the values of Honor, Sportsmanship and Teamplay (a more thorough analysis about these terms can be found here) and will try to scrutinize and criticize the game where it fails to deliver or fully establish the mechanisms to create fair and enjoyable teamplay or where it falls short of promoting and supporting the appropriate mindset for such a gaming experience.
But in the end the game itself can only do so much. The perfect game can still be affected by people disregarding its rules and logic, or even try to ruin the fun for others with their attitude (on purpose or out of ignorance). In that regard I will try to offer ideas and opinions hoping to generate thoughtful discussions.
So far I’m the only writer on the Fort.
But the Fort is not bound to be a one-man show. I’m open for other people who think they can contribute interesting articles. And if I find people who share the values this site stand for and have a similar mindset I will be happy take them on board.
With a few exceptions comments are enabled for the editorials. I’m happy to hear what you think about the stuff I’m doing here, what you like and - most certainly - what you don’t like.
For more general remarks or questions drop me a message at my author’s page or send an email to teatime-AT-thefort2.net (you know what to do with the -AT-, right?)
If you want to report any technical issues (incompatibilities with browsers etc) you can also contact r007 (r007-AT-thefort2.net), who generously handles the technical side of this endeavor.
I’m hoping that this site can live up the promise to offer ideas and generate thoughtful discussions, and that its content warrants frequent visiting
